The SEAT Arosa is a city car from the Spanish automaker SEAT, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, built between 1997 and 2004. The pre-facelift model debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1997, while its facelifted model was presented at the Paris Motor Show in April 2000 and was in production until 2004.Named after the municipality of Vilagarcía de Arousa in Galicia (Spain), it was only available as a three-door, four-seater hatchback. The Arosa, launched in 1997, was to a large extent identical to Volkswagen's own city car which was introduced later in 1998, Volkswagen Lupo, and both cars were based on the Volkswagen Group A00 platform, a shortened version of the A03 platform used by the larger Volkswagen Polo and SEAT Ibiza.
The Arosa was initially manufactured at a Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg, Germany, and only in May 1998 was the production moved to SEAT facilities in Martorell in Spain. The model later received a facelift in 2001. The Arosa replaced the SEAT Marbella in the Spanish brand's lineup, but was not itself replaced by any SEAT model when production ceased in 2005.
The Arosa was designed by the same man who designed the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, Jozef Kabaň
Owners Reviews
Our Seat Arosa 1.0 City Car in black (which looks uncannily like a sized down version of the latest Range Rover with fat wheels) is a 6000 mile p.a. second car. It is quiet, responsive enough, and can cruise quietly down the motorway at 70+ without fuss. Why don't SEAT promote this more - it's a good looking, well equipped car at a great price.
Our Seat Arosa 1.0 is a second car and only does 4000 miles a year but it does its job with no fuss and can be relied upon to nip down to the shops or down the motorway without giving a moment of concern.
We bought the car because we liked its looks and it felt big inside. There is plenty of room for the front seat passengers and it is comfortable even for a 6 footer!
The engine is revvy and willing and well up to cruising at the legal limit although it is slightly buzzy. Around town it is quiet and extremely economical.
A great little town car, ideal for nipping around the tight Spanish roads and able to hold it's own on the Autopista too. It comes with a new ITV and and all local taxes paid. For a low cost used car in Spain look no further than this Seat Arosa.
