The Citroën Saxo is a supermini produced by the French manufacturer Citroën cars from 1996 to 2003. It was also sold in Japan as the Citroën Chanson. It shares many engine and body parts with the Peugeot 106 (which itself was a development of the Citroën AX), the major difference being interiors and body panels. It was replaced by the Citroën C2 in the autumn of 2003.
All engines were from the PSA TU engine series that powered the Peugeot 205 from 1988 and the Citroën AX, and had their roots before that with the OHC PSA X engine various other PSA cars used, such as the Citroën Visa, Peugeot 104 and early Peugeot 205. The range included five petrol engines and one diesel engine, all naturally aspirated.
Although the power outputs seem low in modern terms, even the range-topping VTS had a kerb weight of just 965 kg (2,127 lb), giving all models quite a 'nippy' feel around town.

I have recently bought a 2001 1.1 Saxo from Euromart Cars with a view to my daughter having it when she passed her driving test. I paid just under 3,000€, it looked like a brand new car. When I test drove it, the impression was of a really tight up together car, so I bought it. I have had it seviced and asked for any outstanding work to be done, but was told it was faultless. I enjoy driving it so much, I may well keep it and buy my daughter another one. I would recomend the Saxo to anyone for the sheer joy of the driving experience.

Best car I ever had, I have had this car for 5 years and been all over France and Ireland. It's nippy and has good handling; best of all there is no bally gadgets to go wrong - the only major work I have done is a new drive shaft, it cost £45 and took an hour to replace... simple and easy - A GREAT CAR!
Small low km automatic cars are hard to come by in Spain so book a test drive today to avoid disappointment.
